Fire In Little Africa x CreeseWorks x Goldmill Co Motown Records Collab
This past spring, I linked up with my friends over at Fire In Little Africa, a group of artists based here in Tulsa, OK, and Goldmill Co., a studio also based here in Tulsa, on a collaborative project celebrating their signing to Motown Records.
The project was a celebration of both past and present, having the roster of FILA recreate some of the most famous album covers from the Motown discography. Styled by Atoria J. Styling, the artists faithfully recreated the photos.
This whole project boiled down to a few things:
Researching the album covers throughly to understand not just the angle of the shot, but also the lighting, the colors, and the way the textures of the clothing worked with the lighting.
Having a team to help with set design, as well as styling, hair and makeup allowed me to focus only on lighting, camera angles, and lens effects.
Understanding that the images would be post-processed by Goldmill Co. That meant keeping in mind how the final images would look like and giving as much flexibility as possible once the photos leave my drives.
