What I Use to Be A Mobile Creative
Check out this list of gear I use to get the job done!
MacBook Pro 15" with TouchBar
So first we’ll start off with MacBook Pro 2016 edition. This is the 15-inch MacBook Pro. 15” retina screen the TouchBar and what’s really cool about the TouchBar is that it allows for very fast and very fluid editing in applications such as Final Cut Pro, which I’m using to edit this video right now.
WD My Passport Wireless
Next up on my gear list is the Western Digital My Passport Wireless. What I love about this hard drive is that not only does it have a SD card slot for me to quickly insert and dump all my files during a shoot, it’s wireless too, so I can just turn it on and wirelessly sync to my phone or my laptop or my iPad without any cables involved.
Anker PowerCore 26800
When it comes to power options my favorite choice is Anker and so this is one of their power banks (PowerCore 26800). What this one does over their other power banks is it has a ton of battery power. You can get about 10 charges on your iPhone or Android device and it will completely fill it back up. It takes about 6 hours to refill the whole thing, but for that much power you can go out all day and all night and the next day and they’ll still have juice.
iPad Air 2 with Belkin Case
This is the iPad Air 2. If I’m not working on the MacBook, I’m working on the iPad Air, and what I like about the iPad is that it’s just very quick and easy to do do light work, emailing, file preparation if I’m doing work between Lightroom on the MacBook and Lightroom on the iPad. And this is in a Belkin case, which offers two different modes of viewing, so you have a high viewing mode and a low viewing mode, depending on where you’re viewing everything.
iPhone 6S with Mophie Juice Pack Air
My gear list wouldn’t be complete without my phone, and so what I have here is the iPhone 6s, inside a Mophie (Juice Pack Air) case. That way, I can travel around, I can do business if there is anything that needs to be done. I can manage all my social media from here without having to worry about power throughout the day. Even though I do have the Anker, it’s just nice to have that little extra bit of security and insurance in case I’m stuck somewhere without an outlet.
Zoom H5
When it comes to audio, my choice to go with is the Zoom H5. It’s portable, it’s flexible, and with the changeable capsules, I can change the recording style on the fly. So if I’m doing an interview, I can use the capsule that it comes with, or if I’m shooting video, I can switch out to the shotgun mic with the deadcat and I’m good to go wherever, I am, indoors or outdoors. When it comes to headphones, I have two choices.
V-Moda M-100
The V-Moda M-100s. They’re stellar, they’re clear, and when it comes to editing sound for the videos, I find no other headphone gives me as much precision as the V-Moda M-100s.
